Owned by Ferrari and situated in the scenic countryside of Tuscany, Mugello is a modern circuit praised for its high safety standards and first-rate facilities. The 5.245 m track has a long straight and a combination of six left corners and nine right corners all varying in speed and technicality.
Attracting many Italian fans, this atmospheric venue has a capacity of 50,000 and will host the sixth round of the Moto2 Championship.
Johann Zarco #5:
“I plan to train as much as possible before Mugello so that I am fully prepared for this Grand Prix. “I like the track at Mugello and it’s usually a place where I’m quite fast. I got my first podium there in Moto2 and my first pole position in the 125cc Championship, so I have some good memories. However this doesn’t mean it will be easy, in fact it is the opposite.
“I hope to have a good feeling on the bike and be on the pace like I was in practice and qualifying in Argentina. Then I must try to continue this in the race and be with the top group, first to enjoy it and then to do what I have to do this year.”
Josh Herrin #2:
“Mugello is another new circuit for me so I’ve only ever seen it on TV or through video games but it looks like a really cool track. “I’ve always been a big Rossi fan and I think the atmosphere with the Italian fans will be amazing so I’m excited to ride there.”
“After Le Mans I know what I need to do to progress and after finishing my first Moto2 race I’m hungry for more. I am continuing to train hard and I hope for better results at Mugello.”
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager:
“Mugello is a track that can have high temperatures at this time of year which can affect the grip level, so we will have to see how it is when we are there and adopt the best strategy at that time.
“We thought Le Mans would be good for us but unfortunately it wasn’t, so I don’t want to make any predictions. The only thing I want to point out is that the team is working very well and we are in high spirits even though we have had a very difficult start to this season. We are all capable of much more than what we have shown so far and so Mugello must be a turning point in terms of this. “I am looking forward to this GP as we also have something new to test.”
