Coastal Vintage Motorcycle Festival – Georgia

Chris Carr race action shot

Historic Moto Gran Prix Press Release:

HMGP will present the Coastal Vintage Motorcycle Festival during the weekend of July 12-13 at Roebling Road Raceway outside of Savannah. As with all HMGP events, the bikes will be the stars with collectors exhibiting their bikes on the track.

The event is open to owners of historic roadrace bikes, vintage sport bikes and café racers. The weekend will operate much like a low key track day event. Riders can take the opportunity to ride their vintage bikes on the track in an environment very different from the normal track day. This will not be an event filled with the next world champion learning how to race his 600 Supersport. Rather this is the opportunity for collectors and owners of vintage bikes to take them out for exercise in a safe relaxed environment.

There will be four classes which will operate on 15 minute sessions so each class should get 8 track sessions per day. The classes will be structured by speed. At least one class will operate as a “Club 59” group where the combined age of the bike and rider must equal or exceed 59 years. In this environment all the participants realize how hard it is to get repairs for both the bikes and riders.

The event will start at 8 am on Saturday morning. As is the custom at HMGP events, there will be a social dinner event Saturday evening. The track activity will resume Sunday morning.
