Should Flat-Track Become An X Games Event? What if it featured the new Harley Street 750? Watch the action this weekend and let your voice be heard!

ESPN’s X Games Austin starts tomorrow, held at the new massive Circuit of The Americas facility that is home to MotoGP and Formula 1 events. Adding to the excitement in Texas this weekend will be coverage of an exhibition flat-track race featuring AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Brad “The Bullet” Baker on a bike powered by Harley-Davidson’s new liquid-cooled Street 750 engine. Highlights will be shown during the X Games competition coverage.

Should flat-track become an X Games medal event? That’s the question of the moment, and fans are encouraged to make their voices heard using the #XGamesFlatTrack hashtag.

Dino Bernacchi, Harley’s Director of US Marketing, says the action-packed environment at the X Games “fits perfectly” with the attitude and identity of the new Street 750. “Since we gathered input from more than 3,000 customers, riders, and dealers in more than 10 countries around the world to create the Street platform, it seems only fitting to let our fans decide if flat-track racing should become an X Games medal event,” adds Bernacchi.

So, let’s have a little fun and host our own poll (reply in our comments section below, please): Should flat-track become an X Games medal event? Perhaps using a spec bike powered by Harley’s new Revolution X engine from the Street 750?

While a classic Harley-Davidson XR-750 still makes us salivate, we like the idea of a Street-powered spec machine, especially if it helps grow the sport with that oh-so-important young demographic.

In related news, Harley-Davidson announced that US sales of the new Street 750 and Street 500 start nationwide in the “coming weeks.” The suggested retail prices for the Street 750 are $7,499 (in Vivid Black) and $7,794 (in Denim Black or Mysterious Red Sunglo). The Street 500 starts at $6,799 (in Vivid Black) and $7,094 (in Denim Black or Mysterious Red Sunglo). More than 100 genuine Harley-Davidson accessories are available to help customers personalize their new machines.
