Superprestigio Press Release:
Confirmed participation of Jared Mees, double AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National champion (2012 and 2014), in the Superprestigio Dirt Track event in Barcelona will stage an amazing battle against the 2013 champion, but this time on Spanish soil. Jared Mees and Brad Baker rule the Flat Track Grand National championships since 2012.
Baker, defending ‘champion’ of the Superprestigio invitational race, will have more than a tough competition in his chase after a second consecutive win. However, double MotoGP world champion and local star, Marc Márquez, and Superbike legend Troy Bayliss are not to be counted out either…
Jared Mees (28) from Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, has got the American title back following Brad Baker’s (21, Centralia, Washington) overall victory in last year’s championship. Mees, with a record of two wins and additional seven podium finishes this season, had to wait for the final round to clinch the title due to astonishing performances put out by Bryan Smith in the last part of the season.
Mees will be on the world stage for the first time in his career and has already watched on the Internet some videos of the race event he will be attending next December, 13.
Jared MEES, 2014 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion:
“Racing together with Marc Márquez and an international field of top motorcycle racers from various disciplines is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I watched video of Baker and Márquez going at it in January. I can’t wait to be in the mix this time around!”.
On the other hand, Brad Baker finished fifth in the season, following some injuries that sidelined him or prevented him from being in good shape in the early rounds. The winner of the first Superprestigio in January is well aware of increased competition.
Brad BAKER, 2013 Superprestigio Dirt Track Winner:
“Jared and I are pretty good friends and have spoken about the Barcelona event a lot. He has sucked a lot of information out of me about the race, ha ha ha. I would say he is a little more nervous than when I went over for the first time in January. I’m pretty sure Jared will be my toughest competition at the Superprestigio, but you definitely can’t count Marquez out. I’m sure he’s been training hard and I’m thinking he will be a little quicker than he was last year. It will be an amazing race.”
