Endurocross Press Release:
With a few weeks off from the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship, several of the top American riders traveled to Medellin, Colombia for a one off EnduroCross event. FMF KTM’s Taylor Robert won the first ever International EnduroCross of Medellin, Colombia in front of Cody Webb and Kyle Redmond. Team America dominated the event from beginning to end inside the packed Medellin, Ivan Debedout Arena.
The event, produced by Manuel Mate of IMLA de Colombia with the help of sports organizer Eric Peronnard (Co-Creator of EnduroCross), was a huge success. The very hospitable Colombian people were thrilled to host the event and the racing was spectacular.
Shaffer Tracks, the team that builds the U.S. EnduroCross tracks, created a great track for racing. Although the riders said it was a little easier than a typical U.S. EnduroCross, it was enjoyable for the racers and spectators.
Team America consisted of eight of the regular EnduroCross competitors; Cody Webb, Colton Haaker, Taylor Robert, Kyle Redmond, Mike Brown, Ty Tremaine, Destry Abbott, and Max Gerston. The American riders were treated like rock stars and shared riding tips with the best Enduro riders from Colombia.
The racing included a two moto Motocross style format with the overall winner determined by the combined moto scores. Although Robert did not win either moto, he was the most consistent and took the overall win ahead of Webb and Redmond. Webb and Redmond took the moto wins and finished second and third overall respectively.
The next round of the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship will take place inside the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado on Saturday, October 4th. Denver always attracts a large crowd so get your tickets now.
